things have been mighty itty bitty around chez gleek lately. first of all, i finished the first baby sock in the brooklyn handspun trifecta (socks, mittens, and hat.)

first baby sock
baaaaa!

it's so cute! so very tiny. i've put it next to my sheep tape measure for scale. i didn't follow a pattern for this. just cast on 40 stitches, 2x2 rib, short row heel, and then a regular decrease toe once the foot was 3 inches long. i've just started the second sock and i'm sure i'll be done in another two days. they are so quick and easy.

the other itty bitty bit at chez gleek is the progress we've been making on the apartment. KP's got the flu so i've been doing all of the work on my own. poor guy. he's had a fever now for 4 days! but he's getting much better.

here's a look at our messy apartment before i started rearranging this weekend. i put together a new table with chairs (which you can see in the second photo), a side table, and a coffee table. basically, we've decided that since we're about to have a destructive baby enter the house (and let's face it, all children are little tornadoes) so it would be better to downsize all of our furniture and make as much room as possible. that, and buy cheap furniture that we won't mind being destroyed. there's plenty of time later in life for good furniture (this is what i keep telling myself.)

god, what a mess the place was this weekend! you can even see all of my pillows on the couch because i slept there both friday and saturday night (i quarantined KP to the bedroom.) it looks much better now, trust me. photos will be forthcoming.

we've now made enough room in the dining area for a corner desk and still have enough floor space for a playpen. but i have a few more items to put together (hopefully KP will be better by the weekend!) including a storage unit and the aforementioned desk. once that is put together, everything that was in the office can be transplanted to the dining area, and the office can officially be the peanut's room. THEN we just have to put the crib in there, put together her dresser, and organize all of her new baby things. lots more to do!

Can I barter babysitting for the use of your great organizing skills? I'll provide the labor, you provide the motivation and "tough love" for purging.

I love that little baby sock - the adorable cuteness and quick finishability of baby knits totally outweighs the fact that they're going to get all drooly and sticky.

I think I recognize that table from Ikea. Reorganizing is the worst. Love the baby sock!

Awww the cuteness is overwhelming! I love reorganizing - if you need help building or moving furniture in the future let me know I'll be there to help. I'm sending KP get well wishes and you anti-germ wishes.

Man, you are a tornado yourself in that apartment :) I love that table with the chairs that can pull in all the way. And I love that teeny tiny sock.

You do realize that once you have a baby around, you will NEVER be able to sit down again. REST WHILE YOU CAN!
:-)
I know, you have much to do. Knit while you can, too. What a cutie little socklet.

Wow! You've had a lot to do - so productive. What a shame KP has been sick, I hope you have succeeded in avoided those nasty germs.

The baby sock is too adorable :)

That sock is entirely too cute - isn't it fun knitting baby stuff? So quick, and you can play around with colors and patterns. As for your apt...girl, come to my place. Yours looks immaculate next to mine.

I hope KP feels better soon, and that he didn't pass anything funky to you!

Love the itty-bitty-sock. I've got some sock yarn leftovers begging to be used for just such adorable projects! They'd be good to make and stockpile for gifts.

The babifying of the apartment seems to be going well!! Make sure KP helps you with the heavy lifting!

i LOVE that you used sheep tape measure for scale purposes. tres cute. i also think that you are being too hard on yourself about the apartment -- you are getting optimum use out of your space. (i keep using the word optimum today. and i interviewed a guy who kept using the "incredulous" when he meant "incredible.")

Nice job on the reorganization, too! Once again, I'm impressed with your skills!

Aw, poor KP - I can't believe he's still laid up! The flu is the pits. I love the new booty, though - adorable! And thanks for the sheep tape measure guilt trip - I need to find the head to mine and sew it back on. It came loose a long time ago, but I think Mingus is responsible for its final decapitation. The little headless sheep is just too sad.

your itty bitty baby sock is so cute!
and congrats on the apartment progress... which is only a reminder to me to be grateful that living in CA has more room to offer than houses & apts in NY. good luck to you guys... i'm sure you'll be house-hunting soon!

btw, can you email me about how you incorporated the security code thing in your wordpress setup? i'm being killed by blogspam... thank god i've put myself on moderation mode.

The wee baby sock is so sweet! Congratulations on the redecorating and reorganizing. I admired that dining set at Ikea. It's really attractive. Good luck with the rest of your projects.
