it's hard to believe that in two and a half weeks i'll have to return to work. my maternity leave will be over *sob*. i'm so smitten with my peanut that i get very teary eyed just thinking about leaving her everyday. it's not something i like to talk about.

daddy and peanut, same expression
daddy and peanut, same expression

she's getting bigger everyday and hitting all of those milestones that are making her into a real human being.

sitting in the corner

she just started stretching her vocal cords recently. if your heart doesn't completely melt while watching this video then you must be made of stone :) (click through from RSS to see.. it's cute, i promise)

anyway, i'm uploading more videos to vimeo now. i'm so done with youtube. it's full of crap that teenagers put up there and then comment and say the stupidest things. not only that but the comments are full of spam too. who needs that? it's as bad as myspace now and i swore i would never get a myspace account (and i still haven't!) so why stick with youtube. vimeo is much better. you can find my videos here and they will always be in the sidebar as well.

so besides playing with the peanut and trying to extend her dreaded 45 minute naps (45 minute naps are the very worst. what's the point? you might as well stay awake!) i've been doing a little crafting. the mitered squares are still on the plate. i've finished 8 squares. i plan on knitting another 4 and then weaving in all the ends before continuing.

possibly?
possibly?

these are only possible color combinations.. we'll see!

i tried starting a pair of charade socks and have only managed to knit a few rounds of ribbing. i'm just exhausted in the evenings! by the time the nut goes to bed, we eat dinner and then there's an hour of downtime before we turn in. i have a feeling that's going to get better though. the peanut is starting to play more independently now and her routine is getting more predictable.. and she's sleeping better (touch wood). so maybe i'll feel better about getting more done in the evenings.

in the meantime, it's all nut all the time while i enjoy our last few weeks together.

p.s. i got my hair cut. couldn't stand all that hair when it's so hot.. and it was falling out anyway.

new haircut

I can't believe it's already been so many months. She is such a doll in her pink hat! Best wishes for a smooth transition for both of you, and I like the haircut!

I can imagine you will miss your baby terribly. Hopefully your transition will be smooth. I hear you on the hair thing too. It must be some post baby thing, I comb out so much hair it could scare you. But I'm addicted to my ponytail right now. Your haircut is great! Although I liked it long too.

Oh My! 2 1/2 weeks!! I can't believe so much time has passed already, which I'm sure is even more apparent when you have a growning baby right in front of you.

Thanks for the heads up on vimeo - maybe that will work at work, I just found out that they blocked bloglines and most blogs (including my own), luckily I could get to yours.

Love the cute short hair, much better for this time of year eh?

I can't even imagine what a weird transition it would be to go back to work after maternity leave; I hope it's a smooth change for you! Your little one is quite cute.

I can completely relate to the emotional-ness of thinking about going back to work - I'm already feeling that, too. I am already dreading him "growing up" which is so silly, but I know it will happen far to fast. I am, however, looking forward to the day when we have a bit more predictable schedule! He's eating every hour it feels like, but he's slept for two hours this afternoon (unheard of around here) so today's my lucky day! The peanut is SO cute...love those cheeks!

Your peanut is a beautiful thing! So happy! The sweet little sounds she makes are amazing, aren't they?

Best of luck with the back to work transition. It's tough but it is doable. Once I got into some good routines at home and work, it became easier. My hair started falling out at about 4 months postpartum, I think. It came out in huge handfuls. It's now growing back in and looking kind of normal, but the grow-out time has been goofy! At one point my own mother told me I looked like a kid who cut a chunk of her own hair. Gee, thanks, mom. :) Finally, thanks for the vimeo tip; never heard of it!!

OMG, the nut is so freakin cute, I can't take it. Am lol at Cara's ovary comment. :)
Am also aching for you about the end of maternity leave--I know how much you don't want it to end. This will be good Daddy time for her, tho, and at least it's not quite full time, either. Oh, but I know you'll miss her so much!

I second the hair coming back. It did take some time though. I lost a lot, my hair dresser commented. But just as suddenly as the fall-age started, it will stop. There may be a long pause of follicle inactivity, but then...it'll get full again. Fiona lost almost all of hers too. But...now...she's got a little "bullette" (baby Mullette) going on. Little curly hooks in the back, but not much covering her front.

I can only think of one advantage about you going back to work: you can knit mitered squares on the subway :)

Hi Steph
I was checking in on you today and Ivana came by when I played the video of Camille cooing. We watched it about five times together and for the rest of the day she wouldn't stop pointing at my computer and saying "baby".
She's so adorable and you wait until she really stretches her vocal cords. Fun days of screeching ahead! Or when she starts saying 'no', but it's all cute in the beginning.
I cannot believe how much you're knitting!!

Delurking to say that the video of your daughter is so delightful, what a glorious thing to have a baby in the house!! Good luck with the back to work routine--it's a transition that you will actually survive, even if it doesn't seem that way at first.:)

Love the haircut - I'm thinking about doing the same thing (for the same reasons). I imagine going back to work will be really tough, you're going to have to bring videos and pics of the adorable peanut to get you through the day.
