oh my god, i’m 30 years old…

today. yep, it’s january 18th and it’s also my birthday. happy birthday to me! i’m at work today. i couldn’t justify taking the day off since we had monday off for MLK JR day. no one here at work really even knows it’s my birthday so i’m just going to squirrel myself away in my office and pretend like i’m not even here.

in honor of it being a special birthday (i AM entering a new decade after all) i’ve decided to give you a short recap of what was going on 30 years ago today. it was january 18th of 1976 and my mom was in labor most of the day. it was also super bowl sunday and the cowboys were playing the steelers. the doctor and my father were watching the game while my mom suffered labor in the next room. thankfully she held out till 7:35PM when the game was over and POP! there i was. (this was back when the super bowl was earlier in january and also on during the day.. way before PRIME TIME.)

i was a bear of a child but i had some redeemable qualities:

bozo gets kisses! yes, that’s a cat on a leash.

i was a great lover of animals.

look at that happy face!

i was exceedingly happy to play in the water.

i loved me some PBR.

it was great going through the old images last night and finding ones appropriate to display here. i love old pictures.

well, i also couldn’t have asked for better weather, for january that is. usually it’s 10 degrees and snowing but today it’s 60 degrees and raining though it’s supposed to be much colder later today. i still couldn’t be happier. i’ve always thought that i would have to move to the southern hemisphere to get a warmer birthday but today i got my wish. thanks.

yep, the cat was named after bozo the clown, i think. he was actually a very mean cat and i was very brave to get that close to him! he always used to attack my poor mom ninja-style by jumping at her through doorways.

Happy Birthday Steph! I am looking forward to a few celebratory drinks Saturday night. I hope you have a great day! I love your baby pics – so fun going through old pics and reliving the fading memories. BTW, your cowl looks great. I love that color. My sleeves seem like they might be sorta big too. I was thinking about incorporating some waist shaping… need to figure that out soon. Anyway, happy 3-0!
