i’m not a particular fan of organized sports. i played tennis in high school until it got too competitive and i got too lazy (these were the days when i had a high metabolism and i could eat anything i wanted.. ha. that phase of my life ended about 10 years ago now.) i never watched sports on TV though my father has been a lions football fan his entire life and he could watch golf for hours. but sometime in my late teens, my cousin kate and i found THE OLYMPICS, and all was good. now i look forward to the summer games every four years. i’ll sit in front of the tv and watch just about any sport from beach volleyball to synchronized swimming.
and that was all she wrote until i found soccer (or football to the REST OF THE WORLD except maybe australia with their australian rules football which is really cool and i love watching on fox sports world.) soccer in spanish… and i don’t speak spanish. it’s just much more fun that way! GGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!! anyway, just so you know, i’ll be putting my 24 watching on hold over the next week or two so that i can watch world cup soccer. the DVR is booked up with hours upon hours of soccer on ESPN2 and univision, so much that i had to erase the first part of battlestar galactica season 2 in order to make room! but it’s worth it.
i will be knitting and watching at the same time, though. no worries. i’m working on the raspberry rib jacket.
jacket in progress. so cute, so small.
and it should be done soon. i’m going to cast-on birch and get the pattern together for kyoto… and of course, work on KP’s socks which i haven’t touched since i last worked through the heel (i’m a bad wife.) my good friend, jen, is also in town this weekend and we’re going to hang out on saturday so i’m looking forward to a nice chill weekend of friends, knitting, and WORLD CUP!!! woo hoo!!!

Love the raspberry color! I never played organized sports either – I love watching football (NFL) now, but haven’t watched much soccer (though I did play indoor a few years back!) – maybe I’ll have to tune in!
I made Kyoto about a year ago – beware the length – I wish I made mine longer. And, leave the stitches live at the bottoms of the back and fronts along with the band at the bottom – If I had to do it again I’d either pick up and knit the band down from teh tops and sides, or graft somehow. Seaming it was nuts and impossible to get flat and even.

I just love world cup soccer too! Really, the only sport I like at all. Too bad the games are on at such inconvenient hours. Have a fabulous weekend with your friend!

I love the olympics too (summer and winter). I’m also getting a bit of world cup fever this year. I wish I could watch more of it!

I love that color you are working with!
And I never was really interested in watching sports before, but now I enjoy many hockey games, the Olympics, and football!

You have officially infected me with some World Cup enthusiasm… I’m actually a little excited about a month’s worth of soccer, something that hasn’t been true since I was 7! Maybe if I’d had better shin-guards…

BWAHAHAHHA!!! The only “sports” I STILL watch are the Olympics! Nothing else!

You’d better start knitting something in green and gold for Australian when they win the World Cup.
