so the bath puff was everything that i thought it would be. basically a complete failure.

bath puff
looks cute, right? it’s already been trashed. i finished it on sunday night and tried to put it to use monday morning. soap refused to lather on it so i was glad that i hadn’t thrown away my old puff. then 8 hours later, it was still frakkin’ wet! ugh. dishcloth cotton is really only good for dishclothes. maybe this puff would have been good in some acrylic blend? i have no idea. i’m certainly not going to make another one.
to distract you from the utter failure of the puff, i bring you food and peanut.

potato dinner rolls
i saw this recipe for potato dinner rolls in the veganomicon and HAD to make them. they were so good! i’ll definitely make them again but next time i’ll wait until we have mashed potatoes on hand instead of cooking some up especially for them.

standing!
the peanut is pulling herself up on pretty much everything now. walking is not too far off in the future, methinks. i was loading the dishwasher yesterday (she loves the dishwasher and the refrigerator) and i caught her standing up using the open door as a prop. then she lifted up one of her legs and tried to crawl in! had to put a stop to that quick!
here are two videos that we’ve shot in the past two months or so. the first one is of the two of us. i pointed the camera at us but flipped out the screen so that she could see herself on camera. her reaction is priceless. the second one is of her crawling. she’s pretty good at it now!
p.s. i’m almost through the raglan section of flair so i’ll post something about it later this week, i think.

sorry about the bath puff, it is a bummer when those darn knits just do not work the way they should. i love the nut photos/vids. it is awesome to see her doing her thing, and once the feet start pattering they do not want them to stop. what is it with kids and dishwashers? the boys seem particularly drawn to the knives…surprise, surprise. they also like to steal whisks.

that puff *does* look cute, tho. maybe you coulda left it hanging for show, like those little cute hand soaps.
man, peanut is just way smitten with herself in that first video. *snort* soo adorable!

Potato in bread! Isn’t it the best thing?! We’ve taken to making extra mashed potatoes when we are having it, then freezing what’s needed for the bread for baking days. Its just the best bread ever. Really nice with strawberry jam/jelly. Or dipped in broth. Mmmmm. (can you tell I’ve been to the gym and am now really hungry?)

She is just the happiest and sweetest little thing. Keep her out of the dishwasher though!
My niece and nephew are a little too interested in the dishwasher as well.

Wow, I was so looking forward to making one of those puffs. Maybe it just needs to be worked in. I rememeber everyone I get a new puff I don’t want to give up the old one, but I force myself and eventually the new puff becomes a favorite, although I have never made my own puff before. I think I will still give it a try. Let us know if anything changes on how well the puff works or doesn’t work.

Sorry about the bath puff. Maybe just keep it as decoration? It turned out cute, if not terribly practical. God, the peanut is SO frakkin’ adorable in that video where she sees herself on the camera screen.

Bummer about the pouf. Wet 8 hours later, though… I don’t blame you for trashing it. Eewwww.

That stinks that the puff wasn’t all it could have been.
As for the walking… Kaya started pulling herself up around 9/10 months and didn’t start walking until a week or so ago (almost 16months old!). You may still have some time to go!

Too bad about the puff. It’s looks good, if that’s any consolation! I know that I don’t use my warshrags for the same reason you mentioned: they never dry
Peanut’s discovery makes my heart melt

The Peanut is adorable – almost makes me want to complete a second pair of kids rather than just having a caboose. Be careful of dishwasher climbers, though. We just had to buy a new one because a certain small child liked to climb onto our open door. He bent the door and a new door costs $500.

She is too cute! My daughter loves to watch videos of herself too. Anytime we take one, she immediately asks for the camera so that she can watch it.

Too bad the puff didn’t work out. I’m sorry you had to be the test knitter. Now, I definitely won’t try that one.
The Peanut is getting so big.

Well, that stinks about the bath puff. Perhaps it has to do with the thinkness of the yarn? Since those store bought ones are made of such thin plastic, perhaps a thinner cotton yarn would work?
The peanut is SO cute in that first clip!

The puff is officially off my rav list. Sorry you had to learn it sucks the hard way, but I’m grateful to have you have helped me learn
The video of Peanut’s reaction to herself has to be the best one yet!! Mr B says he thinks she’s awesome – you can imagine how excited he is about having moments like that with our bean.
