sorry this is late! i’m working hard on popknits so everything else in life is delayed
monday, nov 10

i totally do not like mondays. i hate to see KP gone. it’s just not any fun even when i get to take peanut to gymboree for a makeup class.
tuesday, nov 11

we’re working on that whole “clean up the house before bed” routine. i snapped on tuesday and the place just HAD TO BE TIDIED UP OR I WOULD GO NUTS! if i keep repeating to peanut “put things AWAY” she does it but otherwise it’s tough to get her into it.
wednesday, nov 12

we had some extra time after running errands so i took peanut to the park. the days of running around at the jungle gym are drawing to a close as winter sets in here. bummer.
thursday, nov 13

the internet was so busted on thursday! i tried sending out a popknits newsletter and got nothing but aggravation and grief from it. eventually i figured out that my template was giving me problems and i think that the next newsletter will go much more smoothly. sorry everyone!
friday, nov 14

KP worked from home on friday so that i could have a much needed break. he took over the afternoon routine and i went to knit with the spiders. it was so great! almost everyone showed up!
saturday, nov 15

i went button shopping at my local trimmings store which is literally two blocks away! i bought three lovely pearly buttons that i think are going to be perfect for the february lady sweater when it’s complete. i’m almost done! i’m putting a collar on it now.
sunday, nov 16

a cold, windy, and quiet day in my neighborhood. it was the perfect opportunity to take a photo right in the middle of the street.

ah, the clean up routine. some mornings i wake up and see their play room and cannot believe i just ignored it. but then, some days they help. until they try to dump it all out again. boys.

The last picture is of Brooklyn? I recently read an interview with an English actress who now lives in Brooklyn and she said it was just like Queens Park, which is the area of London I grew up in – that photo really looks like it! Maybe its just the grey-ness of a cold day, reminds me of England…

oh, i didn’t notice that your jcrew coat made its debut on monday! i didn’t pay any attention to it until sunday’s SP
i love that yours is fitted – mine is a bit boxy and roomy.

Have you tried training her to put her “work” away before getting out the next thing? It’s what we start doing with our toddlers here at Montessori school and by the time they’re 5 or so, it’s totally ingrained. That doesn’t mean we don’t have to remind them (they’re kids!), but it means that they do understand that that’s the way it has to go. It seems to really help them understand the cycle of “choose/do/finish/replace”– each of which is a separate challenge!

We’re doing something similar regarding clean up, but my hubby and I are theoretically adults and this is mostly to keep the condo neat while it is on the market. I keep hoping that it lasts long enough that picking up at the end of the day/before we leave the house/etc. becomes a habit and not just an onerous duty that we’re rather forget about. Easier said that done, when neither of us is what you would call tidy.
