field trip to BBG

i love new york in spring time. the trees and flowers bloom. everyone seems to have a spring in their step!

lindsay and erin talk lenses

field trips are mandatory when new york awakens from winter slumber. a few weeks ago, peanut, erin, lindsay, and i went to BBG.

so many flowers!

i wish i could remember what these were

we even got out my hoop and hooped under the trees near the conservatory.

the things you miss out on…

because you’re not here…

1) snapple balloons in bryant park

i have my own pictures of people floating around in the park but it’ll have to wait till i get home to get them off my camera and into the gallery. UPDATE: my photos have been uploaded to the around town gallery.

2) a huge chinese celebration for beautiful MJ.

3) the longest baby eyelashes in the world.

look at those lashes!

ok, and now i also have to figure out why the images look so much better on my computer before i upload them to the gallery. there must be some setting i’m using that compresses them too much. there’s always something!

regular knitting updates to commence within a few days. i’m slowly chugging away on kyoto and the clapotis and i haven’t touched KP’s second sock. it’s been a busy few days! but the good news is that i stopped in my corner deli yesterday to pick up my morning cereal and saw a large variety pack of koolaid packets! i snatched up the whole box (and then there was this exchange, “you must really love koolaid.” “i’m going to dye yarn with it!” “uh, ok. here’s your change.”) i have several packets each of cherry, tropical punch, grape, orange, and lemonade to work with and one skein each of knitpicks fingering weight and lace weight to dye! i know what i’ll be up to over the long weekend!

transit strike is over!

it’s over! hurrah!! right in time for me to go on vacation! i couldn’t have asked for better timing. now, i just need to clean the apartment, wrap some presents, and make some chocolate raspberry brownies before saturday. piece of cake.

transit strike day 2

here at chez gleek, things are going well considering the craziness that has taken over new york. luckily, my job doesn’t involve much face time so i’ve been able to work from home yesterday and today. i’m hoping that i can extend it another day because our company already had friday off from work.

this whole transit strike business is just craziness, pure craziness. we’ve got people walking anywhere from 3 to 8 miles to work everyday and then home again in freezing cold weather, price gouging in taxis (including several assaults on riders who refuse to pay up to the price gougers), and $1M per day fines levied against the union for striking in the first place. because those sorts of fines are going to put the union in the poor house, they’ll now have to negotiate for amnesty as well as all of their other demands which means longer stints at the negotiating table and a longer strike. oh, and christmas is sunday, in case you didn’t know. (i know that’s a huge wake-up call to all of my fellow knitters.. sorry!!! you must finish those gifts on time!!)

my opinion on the strike is that one day should have been enough. one day was good to show the MTA that the TWU can’t be pushed around, but seriously.. do we really need to go all out? you are both corrupt, MTA and TWU! you’re both a lying pack of rabid animals so stop putting your fellow citizens through this misery. it’s uncalled for and simply.. mean.

ok, i feel better now. in knitting news, i’m on to ball three of the my so-called scarf, in the foot decreases of my second jaywalker (which is amazingly turning out just like the first jaywalker), and i’ve cast on for a quickie cabled hat. i’ll take pictures later… and if you’re wondering why i’m not out there photographing the madness that IS the transit strike, then you’re all out of your minds!! it’s frackin’ cold out there!

ok, it’s freaking me out a bit…

i went to duane reade to pick up a vaporizer around noon and guess what? maple syrup! AGAIN!! what is that smell?! where is it coming from?!

global warming anyone?

i’m not one to complain about the weather when it’s beautiful, sunny and 68 degrees outside. i just keep forgetting that it’s NOVEMBER! i remember when november meant snow, sleet, and general annoyance at all things weather related but not anymore. seems that we don’t get the freezing cold, bone-chilling weather around here until february, not that i’m complaining. doesn’t it freak you out, though? i read a great opinion/article on salon last week written by al gore on how we’ve completely fracked up the environment and he’s dead-on right. a few of the points he makes are:

  • japan set an all-time record for typhoons last year: 10. the previous record was seven.
  • this summer, more than 200 cities in the united states broke all-time heat records. reno, nev., set a new record with 10 consecutive days above 100 degrees. tucson, ariz., tied its all-time record of 39 consecutive days above 100 degrees. new orleans — and the surrounding waters of the gulf — also hit an all-time high.

these facts are hard to ignore but the prez does a really good job of sweeping it all under the oval office rug (i wonder what else is under there?) anyway, there it is.

i spent some time enjoying the effects of global warming in prospect park on saturday. my parents came in to brooklyn and we walked all over the park, looked at the families, dogs, and war monuments. the colors in the park were gorgeous! it’s amazing to think that there are still leaves on the trees and there are even some trees with green leaves left! (it’s NOVEMBER people!)

all the leaves are brown.. and orange... and green

the audobon center was looking nice. i think that they powerwashed it recently.

and on our walk home we saw these great pumpkins all decorated using at least $80 worth of produce.

i had to run into manhattan yesterday to meet up with my fellow producers to talk about the next play and the madair website redesign (see? i’m linking to it even though it needs a redesign BAD!) but when i got home i got some major progress done on my knits. i’m done with the heel on mom’s second sock and am now working along the foot towards the toe. i realized that i fracked up my second mitered square something fierce, ripped it back and started it again. i also started my cashmere shawl finally!

aminami shawl in progress

i wasn’t really into the cozy pattern for this yarn because it’s so textured though sarah’s version looks like it’s coming along nicely. when i was at school products, they had this yarn sampled up in an open and airy lace and i thought it worked really well especially since once you wash this yarn it gets all soft and fluffy. so i opened my big book of stitch patterns and found a stitch called “lace net to the left”. it seems to be working nicely!

i’ve called this pattern i’m developing “aminami”… “ami” means net and “nami” means wave in japanese.. because the net waves off to the side. eventually i’ll make the pattern available once i’m done. i’m really looking forward to this all finished. the cashmere’s going to be really warm even in this light pattern.

the canadians have invaded!

the smell of maple syrup/sugar was all over the tristate area yesterday and i missed it! i forgot to take my daily does of allergy nasal spray and was all stuffed up. bummer.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/28/nyregion/28odor.html

in other news, i finsihed mom’s first sock last night! i messed up a little on the toe but didn’t realize it till i had grafted together the last stitches. and do you know how IMPOSSIBLE it is to pull apart grafted stitches? that’s the last time i’ll make that mistake. must check project before grafting. you heard it here first! feel free to berate me in the comments at a later date if i do this again.

anyway, on to sock 2 and a hat for KP! updates to backpack to come tonight.

###

love that morning commute!

you know that the day is gonna be sucky when you start it out like this:

http://www.gothamist.com/archives/2005/10/21/west_4_street_subway_station_fire.php

on the upside, i got to ride the R train to work which i hadn’t done in years. of course, it stopped for five minutes in every station and basically made me 30 minutes late for work.. that and i accidentally sat next to a bitchy girl that i knew in college. i thought that she didn’t recognize me but when she sprinted off the train at pacific street i knew i was wrong. at least i got a seat!

ny sheep and wool festival, a.k.a. rhinebeck and the yarn high

on friday, i was just itchin’ to get out of work and head over to the point to see the spiders and plan our trip to the new york sheep and wool festival, lovingly referred to as rhinebeck by the majority of knitbloggers. i was actually sitting in a meeting and mentioned my upcoming trip to my coworkers and got the blankest of blank stares. what? city people actually go to the country? stephanie, you knit? oh boy, looks like i just came out of the wooly closet.

early saturday morning, the brooklyn spiders all met up at kaitlyn’s to head up to rhinebeck which is about 2 hours north of the city. the sun was shining, the sky was clearing up after two weeks straight of rain, and i was playing DJ and navigator in the passenger seat. after hitting a small amount of traffic, we made it to rhinebeck around 11:30AM and proceeded to shop. we shopped pretty much all day.

we also, ate:

mmm, fried artichokes

saw dogs catch frisbees:

caught in mid-air

watched naked sheep being hearded:

what happened to my wool?

sighed over the beautiful, changing leaves.. ah, it really is fall:

gorgeous!

and, of course, laughed and had a great time:

say something funny!

but i know that you really want to hear about the yarn. i got one skein (550yds) of brooks farms duet (see picture below), 4 skeins of brooks farm four play yarn, one skein (665yds) of silver alpaca DK weight yarn, two skeins of 4 ply soft yarn from morehouse merino, sock yarn, eehhhh, i think that’s it! more pictures of yarn to come when i actually have projects started for each of them.

by the end of the day, when we were in the car on the way home, everyone was blissed out and in a yarn stupor. lisa was on a yarn high that infected us all! it was a great time. i ended it all yesterday by sitting down and winding up a MASSIVE ball of the duet which will be made into a capelet for a black tie christmas party i have to attend in december.

yarn and wine, a great combination

do i really have to wait another 365 days for the next rhinebeck?

please! PLEASE!!!

stop raining.. please! i’m begging the gods of rain and mercy to WAKE UP and stop the rain. i’m so sick of it. it’s really depressing and annoying.

but i’m getting a heck of a lot of knitting done. should be done with the circular bolero tonight at which point i will block it and hopefully it’ll dry before the weekend!

us open.. and knitting, of course

i was chatting with my mom on the phone this weekend, basically reminiscing about my past trips to the us open. KP and i took my parents to the open in 2001… on september 9th. my mom was saying how that was such a beautiful day and how she remembers looking back at the skyline as they drove from the city and that it will never be the same again. indeed it won’t. our memories are forever mired in time based upon that day.. before, during, or after. it’s nice to know though that i can still build upon these memories with new ones and this trip out to queens was a winner.

the easiest way to get there from brooklyn is to either take an expensive car service (no way) or to take the subway to penn station and then catch the LIRR to shea stadium. so we hopped on the train and made it to penn with time to spare (which is a first, though, KP disagrees.) once we hit queens, we immediately headed for the expensive beer and a seat to watch old footage on the big screen.

some old us open action

after waiting in a HUGE crowd to get into the stadium, we got to watch lindsay davenport cream anabel medina garrigues and then tommy haas lose to robby ginepri (although we didn’t stay for the whole match.) the men’s match was a bit boring.. slow-paced, even, for tennis. so mom’s cabled sock made an appearance must to KP’s dismay.

mom's cabled sock gets some tennis action

some of the cool things about the open: 1) the new blue court color looks very nice and coordinated with the rest of the stadium; 2) tennis is a civilized event during which you rarely fear a fight will break out amongst the fans. some of the not-cool things: 1) $6.25 for a beer… and ok, yeah, $6.25 for beer!! needless to say, we spent a lot of money but came back home with two heinneken hats. huzzah!

sunday was spent watching more tennis on TV while knitting. no big surprise there.

monday, being a holiday in the US, KP and i met up with kaitlyn and co. for a picnic in the park. the weather was beautiful and prospect park was hopping mad with people. we were fortunate to get a nice shady spot but not so fortunate as to have a glass of red wine splattered all over everything when a softball came my way. oh well. can’t be helped.

thank you for smiling kaitlyn
thanks for smiling, kaitlyn

i’ve made significant progress on all of my projects. the sock leg is almost done for mom’s cabled socks (i’m taking my sweet time on these). i’m in the 7th straight row repeat of clapotis (going for 12) and am 2/3s done with the glampyre cami. i expect there will be finished objects to show by the end of the week. i also managed to pick up yarn for my fall projects during (drum roll, please) TAX-FREE week in NYC! yep, yarn is tax free here twice a year. see the crafty projects backpack for pictures and updates.

*update* september 6th rumors of a finished object this week have been greatly exaggerated as i have found another mistake in the glampyre tubular cami. sigh. i ripped back almost a whole ball last night and tried again. it’s still not the same as all the pictures i have seen but looks a lot better than it did before i ripped. oh well. i’m going to live with it even though i had tried to finally do a pattern where i didn’t improvise for lack of decent instructions. the knitting gods are against me.

i love a spectacle

the pharaoh's daughter

the bolshoi ballet performs the pharaoh’s daughter

seeing as i have no new knitting content (still working on the clapotis, cabled socks, and casting-on the tubular cami), i’ll rewind time for a bit back to early july when KP and i, once again, hit the NYC ballet for a night of well-earned culture. this time we decided to see the pharaoh’s daughter. i took one look at the NYC ballet brochure and was sure it was something that i wanted to see. all those costumes, big sets, and crazy eqyptian makeup on pale russian dancers screamed SPECTACLE and the gods know that i LOVE a spectacle. the best part of this night at the ballet was that it was actually held in the opera house instead of the NY state theater so now i have been to all three big buildings there in lincoln center.

the ballet itself was pretty amazing. there were so many performers and these dancers were on the top of their game. not once did i see anything go wrong. what i found most interesting was that not only were all the dancers russian (as the bolshoi ballet should be) but the pit orchestra was as well, and they were fabulous!

a couple of my friends who are reading this right now are probably shaking their heads… i tell them that we’re going to see the philharmonic or the ballet and they say, “what are you? 60?!” ugh. people! going to see the ballet or the philharmonic does not mean that i am an old, decaying woman with a cane who can’t see! it means i’m cultured, damn it! it means that i appreciate great beauty! it means that i care about arts in this city and not just some crazy installation that you can only see in one gallery in SOHO. everyone should take some time out to see these time-honored events. dancing in the ballet or playing in an orchestra takes great skill that’s to be watched and appreciated.

oh, and speaking of great skill, KP and i have tickets for the US Open this weekend! i’m hoping the weather will behave and we can spend some time in the sun at arthur ashe enjoying the sound of a tennis ball being hit at 120mph. i wonder if i can bring my knitting with me…

having a stitchy sticky summer

well, it’s a long weekend (at least for me, i decided to take today off from work so that i could upgrade my computer to tiger) and it was well spent. on saturday, the spiders were all in brooklyn (minus joy and amanda) to swap yarn at kaitlyn’s stitchy sticky summer yarn swap. kaitlyn doesn’t live that far from me so i walked over there with a large bag of yarn and some wine. the day was bright and beautiful but not too hot. perfect for some outdoor fun in the shade. sandra, lisa, katie, sarah, abby, and valentina were among the girls that i already knew. there were some new faces as well that i have already forgotten the names to (help!) kaitlyn has just updated me with thos names.. the lovely girls who showed up at the party were sarah and mary.

we had fun putting yarn on joey.

we documented the stash.

we showed off our new yarn!

we fondled all the yarn.

see the gallery for more photos! all that yarn completely went to my head! lisa and i left around 6:30PM and met up with KP at barnes & noble so that we could get the newest vogueknitting and interweave knits magazines. the rest of the weekend i spent hanging with KP because he’s back in milwaukee now working. i finished up the second sock!!

and started a new one skein wonder

this is possibly THE most luscious yarn i have ever knit with (and that’s not a stretch of the imagination because i haven’t been knitting for long!) so smooth. it’s like buttah’. i’ll be updating backpack once it’s back up from maintenance with my crafty status. in the meantime, enjoy the gallery.

go london!

i’m so very happy that london got the olympics! i was pushing for paris since the french really do grand events in grand style but london is just as good… or should i say, anything but new york! we’re not ready as much as bloomberg would have us feel. now i’m just wondering how long it’ll be before the city removes all of the olympic paraphrenalia from the streets.

only three days left…

… to come and see project playwright: the show at the abingdon theatre! the show is really excellent so i’m urging you all to come out and show your support for the local arts. playtimes that are left include: tonight (friday) 8PM, tomorrow (saturday) 3PM & 8PM, and sunday 3PM. it’s $15 well spent! and if you do show up, be sure to metion that you heard about the show here on gleek.net. i’d like to meet some of my readers!

nyc knitters hit book launch

things around here have been running on overdrive since, well, since last year it seems, but this past week has been especially busy. saturday evening, i was in astoria for a surprise birthday get-together. sunday, my husband and i were in NJ celebrating memorial day and my grandfather’s 88th birthday (happy bday again grandpa!) and monday, we had our friends lee and jackie over along with their friend kristen and their three little girls (from age 5 to 8 months). tuesday, i was especially exhausted after work and just went straight home after the gym to watch some firefly. but yesterday, i was out about with some new friends!

kat, of pinkurocks fame, is in town this week and staying with friends in queens. she, kay (of mason dixon knitting fame), and i met up in rockefeller before heading down to downtown yarns where i fondled basically every skein of yarn in the shop. this is a great shop although it’s small and has a small selection of karabella yarn (my favorite). i love the shop’s dog, frankie, and the wide variety of rowan yarns. it’s a great find for knitters in NYC.

we then walked over to SOHO where kay left us to go home and relieve her babysitter. kat, her hubby darin, and i headed down crosby to a gallery where teva durham was having a book launch party for her new book, loop-d-loop. i love it! i was looking at all of the patterns last night and i hope that i can get around to making one of the short row sweaters this fall. really gorgeous. at the book launch party, i met up with some nyc knitbloggers who i previously didn’t know. i’m terrible with names but amongst the women i did meet were sassy stitchess and dynamite knits. i’m hoping that by running through their blogs over the next few days i’ll run into some of the other women that i met last night!

we all left the book party around 7:30 and went to antique garage for dinner where we proceeded to talk a little shop and get acquainted. the night became a blur after that. i remember looking at sassy’s newest project and riding the train home with the girls. i was so tired when i got in yet i forced myself to stay up and get the pictures downloaded from my camera so that i could post them today. you should take a look! other albums have been updated as well (and there’s this genart album in there that has no pictures.. sorry, i ran out of time this morning and really had to book it to get into work. will upload them and write about it tonight!)

project playwright: the benefit

you have not heard much from me here lately because i have been working hard to get a benefit together for the next play that my production company is producing! it’s a lot of work but i’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end. so if you have $5 and some time to spare on sunday, come by under the volcano for some entertainment and drinks.

see this PDF for more information.

“little boy” at japan society

the new york times has an article focusing on the japan society’s “little boy” exhibit curated by takashi murakami of LV bag fame. my favorite sentence of the article:

“These days the ‘Ultraman’ panoply of rudimentary effects seems like a delirious compendium of postmodernist camera strategies.”

um. yeah. i think that ms. smith should give up her dependence on the thesaurus. that’s possibly one of the silliest sentences i have ever read.

see the exhibit if you’re in town. it’s the pinnacle of otaku and the japan society building is pretty gorgeous itself. i love that place.. as well i should. i’m there at least once a week these days.

much better today

i’m feeling much better today and i think that it has something to do with the weather around this joint. last night, i spent a delicious evening with danielle at teany (which i call teany’s for some reason) where we ate welsh rarebits and peanut butter bomb cake which is absolutely TO DIE FOR. in fact, i’m hesitant to even mention it here for fear that you will all descend on this little hideaway and eat it all yourself.

i love that stretch of LES around essex street. it’s just almost chinatown but not as smelly. there are so many new hot spots there that you could walk around for hours and entertain yourself just by peeking in the windows. last night, i walked back to the F train without needing to wear my coat and it just felt so natural to have the soft, warm air on my skin. god, i have waited for this kind of weather for months! anyway, danielle and i were joined by caitriona later on in the evening who expressed the need to get into a “new skirt” after seeing all the other women on the street in THEIR new skirts. she’s a riot, that one. new skirts for everyone! i was just happy that at the end of the night i made it home before the torrential downpour. ah, spring, you tease us.

i’ve almost finished the messenger bag i have been working on that i’ve titled “ode to vegetables” being that i’m a vegetarian and all that (also because there are vegetables on the fabric lining. bet you can’t wait to see it!) i put together the lining last night and it looks great! i’m happy with my seams and pockets and tonight i have to press it and then stitch the rest of the bag together then put away all the sewing stuff before my hubby returns from beautiful and scenic cincinnati. pictures to come this weekend! i promise! i’ll also start up a mobile camera gallery and finally download all the pictures i’ve been taking on my new phone. stay tuned.

memories of high school

st. patty’s day is the one day i wish i could stay at home every year. if you’ve never lived in new york during march, then you’re not familiar with the parades of puke, drunken men and women stumbling along during your lunch hour, or riding the subway home while someone breathes jim bean all over you. i’m a good part irish and i think that this whole drink-till-your-falling-over tradition is a little out of hand and gives us irish a bad name. it falls right inline with a joke i hear often enough: why did god create beer? so that the irish wouldn’t rule the world.

uh, huh… and being that my office space looks down over grace plaza i’m treated to a marching band at 10.30am. ah, memories of high school. band geeks.

i just figured out how to send photos from my phone to my email account!

UPDATE: just got a shot of the large crowd that gathered outside to chant “BEER! BEER! BEER!” and roll around on the ground like dogs.

###

morning commute

i got on the train and there were no seats which only happens to me 40% of the time so i stood in the center aisle with the other passengers and stared at the advertisements. NOTE: it’s winter and quite cold outside. this year, i decided that it was more important to be warm than fashionable (i’m forever in the minority on this issue as is apparent from the women strutting the streets in this town) so i bought a black, long, super warm coat from lands end. it’s not ugly but not stylie either. it is a bit large though and evidently it makes me look pregnant.. or it did to the young lady who offered me her seat this morning. no joke. she looked at me all concerned and said, “do you need to sit down?” and i thought, damn i must look tired! but she was eyeing my midsection (bulked up due to the coat and scarf) and i’m sure i had this horrified look on my face two moments later when i incredulously blurted out, “no! why?” she just shook her head to indicate she was sorry and went back to reading. how incredibly depressing! all i wanted was to be warm this winter and instead i look pregnant! and all women know that no one wants to look pregnant unless they ARE really pregnant. ugh.

why do women wait till they are on the train to apply their makeup? personal grooming in public is inherently LC (that’s “low class” people!) and ranks up there with those who cut their nails in public. gross. i watched a woman put on three coats of mascara on the F train this morning. i couldn’t help but imagine the train stopping short and the mascara wand jabbing her in the eyeball. that’d teach her.

it’s also unacceptable to subject fellow travellers to your hideous singing voice and, yes, we CAN hear you singing while wearing your headphones. put a SOCK in it!

two things to follow up on. salon’s mac/windows debate really heated up and they had to publish more letters to keep the tide stemmed. i really enjoyed sasha gelbart’s letter on page 2. clear and concise.. and yes, macs and pcs are apples and oranges. i know that.. i’m just partial to apples, as it were. also, the awful antics of the new york DJs that made fun of the tsunami victims came to blows yesterday and the radio station has issued an apology, fired the DJs, and donated money to the tsunami aid groups. hopefully this will stop anyone from doing anything so similarly stupid.

blizzard

blizzard in brooklyn

KP and i are stuck at home due to blizzarding conditions here in NYC. i can’t believe how much it has snowed today! we had to cancel our birthday dinner plans with 12 friends due to the nor’easter dump. i forgot that my camera has a feature to take video so i got this shot of our corner [even the dead have to get around] just to give you an idea of what it was like earlier (and.. so you know, it’s worse now!) no doubt, if i were watching network TV news right now they’d be calling this “the blizzard of ‘05!!” like it was the best news they’ve had in years. i’m sticking with watching KP play GTA:SA.

i’m going to start a new crochet project (the last one turned out way too big because i forgot to change the gague down for worsted yarn.. oh well, these are the mistakes newbies make) because in two weeks i’ll be doing lots of knitting.. my friend k10 and i are taking a knitting for pleasure class at FIT! i can’t wait. i have been meaning to start a knitting project for a while but couldn’t decide what to make because i’m new at this and can’t even do proper increases or decreases! i’m hoping that the class will give me a chance to see what other knitters do and maybe i can pick an easy pattern from knitty to accomplish in the class. anyway, it’ll be fun and i’m looking forward to it. next week, also, starts a brand new semester of japanese class! woo hoo!

nyc ballet

nyc ballet

last night, KP and i trucked it on up to lincoln center to see the ballet. i love lincoln center. it’s an oasis of culture in an otherwise desolate upper west side. the center campus is inspiring in its immensity and architecture. i particularly love avery fisher hall where KP and i saw the philharmonic in december. the new york city ballet performances are held at the new york state theater which is across the courtyard from avery fisher hall. i had never been to the new york state theater and was impressed with the size of it but not with the decor. it looks as though some 70s nuveau artEEst was inspired by the red velvet ropes outside studio 54. regardless of how tacky i found it, it’s worth going to see for the sheer enjoyment of ridicule. anyway, the ballet (which is why i was there in the first place) was amazing. we saw goldberg variations and tschaikovsky suite no. 3. the goldberg variations part of the performance (90 minutes long!) had the entire music accompaniment of one man on a piano and he was extraordinary! such dexterity.. and the dancers too for that matter. the choreography was varied. at any one point, there would be one, two, or twenty dancers on stage, and the piano accompaniment, at times, was soft enough that you could hear the squeak of their shoes on the stage. it was beautiful and the dancers made it all seem so easy… that they could float and fly or had to be tied to the ground to keep them from drifting away. i also loved the choice of costumes. for the men, they wore different solid color unitards and the women all had simple color schemes as well. it brought your attention more to their dancing than their frilly tutus. even though i was very tired and dealing with a stye in my eye i enjoyed the night immensely.

sick on new years

well, the bad news is that KP and i are laid up at home with nasty colds. i caught it on wednesday morning and then passed it on to my dear husband later that day. looks like we will be spending new year’s eve at home with a box of tissues and grand theft auto: san andreas. as i type this, KP is running some pimping missions and making lots of dough in the process. i think it’s safe to say that gta should be watched in minimum amounts before bedtime. all last night, i drove around san andreas in my dreams and i don’t even play the game! i just backseat drive while KP handles the controls. anyway, it’s a great game. very funny and more advanced than vice city was. i’m extremely impressed. if you hadn’t noticed already, i updated the galleries this week. later, i’ll post a picture of the ipod cozy that i crocheted up on tuesday. have a happy and safe new year! see you all in 2005.
