left: knitpicks lace weight, right: knitpicks fingering weight

soak up that dye

heat the yarn + water and dye on the stove till ALMOST boiling, turn off heat, and let sit till it soaks up the dye.

the yarn has extracted all the dye from the water

yep, it's done

now that the water is clear, we can strain

strain the yarn (be careful! the water's hot!)

do not rinse until the yarn is all cooled.. otherwise you may shock it into felting

all dry and wound up

be careful when dyeing not to knot up the yarn!
